Lydian Sky is a music project blending pop, neo-prog, electronica, and art rock, created by Seattle composer and multi-instrumentalist, Scott Carness.
Lydian Sky's journey started during the 2020 Covid lockdown. Carness, an avid astrophotographer, as well as a Berklee-trained record producer and recording engineer, combined his love for astronomy and music. Initially creating original soundtracks for astronomy films, the project soon grew into something much bigger.
In the summer of 2021, Carness ventured into Studio B in Palm Springs, California. Teaming up with acclaimed producer/engineer Chad Shlosser (known for his work with Polyphia, Billy Gibbons, and Slash) and Studio City drummer Rich Lambert (recognized for his collaborations with Aja West and Mike Porcaro), the three-day session birthed the ethereal 4-song EP, "Nebula."
In 2023, collaboration with drummer Rusty Knorr and vocalist/songwriter Sammi Garett (known for her work with Adrian Belew of King Crimson and Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads) added to the depth and breadth of Lydian Sky’s sound. Now, as Lydian Sky sets its sights on the horizon, recording has commenced for their sophomore release, "Pink Aliens in Tahiti," slated for a December 2025 release.
